Hi! I’m Courtney Pearson.
I am a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Geelong, Victoria.
I am also a mother, stepmother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. I was inspired to follow this career path by my own life experience, when I realised that in caring for everyone else, I had neglected my own mental and emotional health. This was putting strain upon my relationships with others, and most importantly, my relationship with myself.
I chose to specialise in men’s mental health because I have witnessed first-hand the damaging effects of men not seeking out appropriate and effective mental health support. My mission is to provide a nurturing service that helps to break down the social stigma of men asking for help and allow men to face their issues before they spiral out of control.
I consider therapy as mental and emotional self-care. It can help us to manage stress, ease harmful symptoms of mental disorders, and learn coping strategies to adapt to life’s curveballs. It can help process interpersonal trauma that may have been previously ignored. It can also help us to find our true selves when we seem to have lost sight of who we are whilst prioritising other peoples’ needs.
I use a person-centred and trauma-informed approach to provide personalised therapy. I specialise in narrative therapy, attachment-based therapies, emotion-focused therapy and strength-based therapies. I provide culturally competent and ethical therapy, and provide an authentic service based on empathy, safety and honesty.
I believe that understanding ourselves and exploring the impact of our experiences can improve our wellbeing.
Courtney has a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy and is an accredited Narrative Therapy Practitioner. She is a registered member of the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA)
